We participate in most insurance plans, and provide care for auto, work, sports and repetitive strain injuries. Some of the plans we participate in that offer a chiropractic benefit include: Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Cigna, Health Net, HealthPlan Services, ILWU-PMA, Kaiser, Medicare Part B, Sutter Select, United Health Care, and UMR.We do not accept Medi-Cal (except SF Health Plan administrated by ASH) or Covered California individual health plans. Please be aware that ALL INSURANCE PLANS PROVIDE DIFFERENT COVERAGE.
Many Insurance Companies Have Adopted A Single Flat Rate Reimbursement Plan which means One Reduced Price Covers Everything For One Visit. This applies to all HMO’s, Cigna PPO, Medicare Part B, some Anthem Blue Cross and some Blue Shield of CA PPO’s (some Anthem Blue Cross and some Blue Shield of CA PPO's only provide reduced reimbursement through the ASH network).
Patients with Single Flat Rate plans will receive a half-time BASIC office visit: ~10-15 minutes of doctor time (evaluation and treatment) and ~10 minutes of unattended time (therapy tables, etc.). Treatment maynot include enhanced services: Active Release Techniques, Laser therapy, or Kinesiology taping techniques. BASIC office visits imply “problem-focused, low complexity, straightforward medical decision making.â€
Patients with other plans and private pay patients will receive a full-time ROUTINE office visit: ~20-30 minutes of doctor time (evaluation and treatment) and ~10 minutes of unattended time (therapy tables, etc.). Treatment may include enhanced services: Active Release Techniques, Laser therapy, or Kinesiology taping techniques.
Insured patients with Single Flat Rate may elect,if needed, to upgrade from half-time BASIC to full-time ROUTINE office visits. Because the routine visit often involves additional time, complexity, body parts, and/or equipment costs there is an additional charge, over and above any deductible or co pay, of $26 per visit.
In certain complex cases (insured or not) a greater level of service (EXPANDED office visit) may be required.
Our rates are very competitive with other professional health care services in downtown San Francisco such as acupunture, dentistry, massage therapy, medical care, naturopathic, physical therapy, etc.
If you have a SINGLE FLAT RATE PLAN please indicate when scheduling if you want a BASIC or ROUTINE office visit so we can assign the correct amount of time for your evaluation and treatment.
We Can Only Provide A Level Of Service Equal To The Reimbursement. A Reduced Reimbursement Plan Will Receive A Reduced Service Time. This Is The Only Way We Can Remain In Network. Thank you for your understanding.
Please also be aware that every appointment slot includes 1) an initial or interim history update, 2) the actual treatment and practitioner recommendations, and 3) time to chart the visit in the electronic record system.
